Who is MP Diamila Disimban-Ramos?

MP Diamila Disimban-Ramos, also known as “Jam,” is a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament. She was appointed on August 13, 2019 by then-President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and reappointed on August 11, 2022 by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Romualdez Marcos Jr.

She is currently the Chairperson of the newly established Committee on Women, Youth, Children, and Persons with Disabilities of the Bangsamoro Parliament. She is also a member of the BTA’s Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management; Committee on Basic, Higher, and Technical Education; Committee on Trade, Investment, and Tourism; Committee on Human Settlements and Development; Committee on Science and Technology; Blue Ribbon Committee; and the Special Committee on Marawi.

Her father is from Taraka, Tamparan, Masiu, and Lumba-Bayabao, Lanao del Sur, while her mother hails from Kabuntalan, Maguindanao, and Pikit, Cotabato. Continuing her family’s lineage, MP Jam was previously enthroned as Bae a Labi a Gaus in Bubong a Masiu in Taraka, Lanao del Sur, in November 2011. She is the mother of six (6) wonderful and loving children and is happily married to Sultan Sa Maul Hadji Acmad Macarambon Ramos. She graduated from Lyceum of the Philippines University in 1995 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, Major in Diplomacy, where she was awarded Outstanding Foreign Service Student of the Year.

She was also a salutatorian at the Ma’had Manila Al-Islamie Arabic School in 1991 and a cadet officer at Manuel L. Quezon University in 1992.

MP Jam has spent more than ten years in government service with an untainted public service record. She became part of the APEC Substantive Group of the Department of Foreign Affairs during the Philippines’ hosting of the 1st APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit in 1995.

Further, she has also worked with the National Youth Commission from 1996 to 1999, the Cooperative Development Authority (National) from 2011 to 2016, and was later detailed to ARMM, where she was designated as the ARMM Focal Person on Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) and Chief of Staff under the Office of Regional Assistant Secretary Pendatun Disimban of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF-ARMM).

MP Jam is also a licensed real estate broker and a licensed real estate appraiser, and thereafter became the Executive Vice President of the Manila Board of Realtors Inc. in 2019.

As a BTA Member, MP Jam is guided by three (3) policy and legislative agendas: “Sustained Peace,” “Effective Governance,” and “Empowered Constituencies.” Her initiatives highly value empowerment, opportunities, services, and benefits that are inclusive, reflective, comprehensive, and responsive to the clamor of the underserved women, youth, children, elderly, orphans, widows, solo parents, Mujahidats, persons with disabilities (PWDs), internally displaced persons (IDPs), and other marginalized Bangsamoro constituents within and outside BARMM.

According to MP Jam, her Jihad is to become part of the collective voice of the Bangsamoro in legislating policies and laws that will uphold our right to self-determination and promote the welfare and development of our people, because to her, “Service to the Bangsamoro People is service to Almighty Allah SWT.”

MP Jam was recognized by the Gawad Pilipino Awards as Most Empowered Women of the Year in 2023, Asia Pinnacle Awards in 2022 as the Most Outstanding Public Servant with Excellent Advocacy on Peace and Effective Governance and the Most Outstanding Leadership and Influential Bangsamoro Women of the Year of the 4th Asia Pacific Luminaire Awards in 2021.

Nickname: Ruffa

Short Biography: Sittie Rohanifah Macarambon Palao, fondly called by her family and friends as Ruffa, is from Lanao del Sur, particularly in Marantao, Balindong, Ramain, and Marawi City, but was raised in Cagayan de Oro City, where she finished her degree of Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan in 2013.

Thereafter, shortly after finishing college, she was employed at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (ARMM) as a community facilitator under the PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) program. After her three-year stint in the said agency, she then enrolled at Arellano University School of Law in Pasay City. But due to the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to take a leave of absence and take a different path.

In 2022, she was given a chance to be employed at the Office of MP Diamila Disimban-Ramos as a legal researcher and was eventually designated as the Supervising Political Affairs Officer I and as the honorable MP’s Executive Assistant. She works closely with MP Jam and is dedicated to making sure that everything is well monitored in the office and that things are easier for her lady boss.

For her, her stint at the Office of MP Jam is her biggest achievement yet, as she has always dreamed of being in service to the community, especially the Bangsamoro. Growing up in a politically inclined family, her ultimate childhood dream was to follow in the footsteps of her uncles, who selflessly served the homeland for decades.

She believes that this is just the start of making that dream a reality. In Shaa Allah!

Nickname: Julius

Short Biography: Julius Disamburun is the Chief of Public Information and Media Affairs under BARMM’s Member of Parliament, Diamila Disimban-Ramos, in the Bangsamoro Transition Authority. He is a broadcast communication graduate of the Lyceum of the Philippines University—Manila. Having Maranao blood, Julius served #TeamMPRamos for almost four (4) years.

He started his career at the government network PTV4, where he spent more than six (6) years as a news anchor and reporter. In 2015, he was one of the media delegations at the 1st ASEAN-Japan TV Festival leaders’ meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and in 2016, at the ASEAN-China Friendship Concert in Guangzhou and Haikou, Hainan, China. During that period, his alma mater, Caloocan High School, conferred him with the Wall of Fame Award in Broadcasting.

During the term of former President Rodrigo Duterte, he was also assigned as media moderator in Malacañang Press Briefings. In 2017, he was one of the media delegations at the working visit of former President Duterte in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the same year, Julius received a commendation from PTV4 for selflessly undergoing great risk during the Marawi Siege.

In 2018, he was assigned as the Executive Assistant to the Secretary of the Department of Tourism’s Central Office, where he was one of our country’s delegations to the 18th World Travel and Tourism Council in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After which, he became the Chief of Staff and Head Executive Assistant of the broadcaster and former DSWD Secretary, Erwin Tulfo, before moving as a consultant to the ACT-CIS Party List under Congressman Eric Yap. He also served as the news manager of DWRB 103.9 News FM, a local radio station in Mega Manila.

His objective is to share his skills and passion in communications and public service in serving God, country, and the Filipino people.

In 2022, Chief Julius was the Gawad Pilipino Awards’ Hero of the Year awardee.
